The Gillette Wild started their road stand against the Great Falls Americans, and Trent Dillinger would be a huge asset to the Wild in this contest. Dillinger tallied five points in the game, two goals and three assists. The Wild took the game with an 8-2 victory, with Nick Vittori getting the win between the pipes for the Wild.
After the game in Great Falls the Wild had to travel to Helena to face the league leading Big Horns. The Wild did not seem effected by the long bus trip and jumped in front of the Big Horns 3-1 mid-way through the second period. The rest of the game was a battle, but was controlled on the scoreboard by Helena. The Big Horns scored late into the third to tie the game and send it into overtime. One overtime would not be enough to settle the score, and late into the second Helena got one past goal tender Sean Kelley, who had a fantastic night in goal, giving The Big Horns the win.
The last stop of their three game road stand was Bozeman, Mt. to face the Ice Dogs. The Wild jumped on the Ice Dogs early and often during this game and finished with a victory of 7-1. In net for the Wild was Brandon Kruckenburg who only allowed one goal out of 21 shots. The Wild get five out of a possible six points from this weekend keeping them in third place in the AWHL, five points ahead of Missoula and nine points behind Yellowstone.
Your Wild will take on the Missoula Maulers Friday and Saturday at home this weekend, and then will hit the road to take on the Billings Bulls.
