The Gillette Wild completed a strong road trip with a 2-0 weekend sweep over the Butte Irish.
Friday Night Recap
The Wild secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Friday night in Butte. After a tight opening frame, CJ Lang found the back of the net in the second period to even the score. Beau Delich followed with the game-winning goal in the third, giving Gillette the edge.
The Wild locked things down defensively in the final minutes to preserve the one-goal win and open the weekend on a high note.
Saturday Night Recap
Saturday night’s contest mirrored the previous weekend’s offensive surge, as the Wild powered their way to a 6-3 victory.
Gillette jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period with goals from Beau Delich and Elijah Gilbertson. The second period featured back-and-forth action, but the Wild capitalized on their opportunities to take control. Goals from Rocco Corl, Aiden Schake, and Brady McGinn pushed the lead to 5-2 heading into the final frame.
In a physical third period, McGinn sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Josh Sauro played a key role in the offensive effort, tallying three assists on the night.
Tensions boiled over after the final buzzer, resulting in a postgame scrum between the two teams.
