After an exciting home sweep over Butte, the Wild faced the Yellowstone Quake on January 23 and 24. Gillette opened the weekend strong with a 3–1 victory on Friday night. Goals were scored by Schmidt, Waters, and Herold to secure the win.
Unable to carry the same momentum into Saturday’s matchup, the Wild fell 7–4 to the Quake. Despite the loss, Gillette capitalized on special teams, scoring three of their four goals on the power play. Schmidt recorded two power-play goals, while Herold added one. Newcomer Teegan Gardner also found the back of the net.
