Gillette’s Boreing deadly on offense in 3-0 win against Evansville

Gillette relied on the scoring touch of Cade Boreing, who netted two goals, to beat Evansville, 3-0.

Boreing scored on the power play at 3:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gillette and again while 4:04 into the second to make the score 2-0 Gillette.

Stephen Wroe frustrated Evansville\’s offense all game, and stopped 29 shots en route to a shutout. Wroe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.23 entering the contest.

Gillette put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Evansville to score on any of its three power plays.

Gillette also got a goal from Nick Scherbinin as well. More assists for Gillette came via Kyle Traux, Adam Maxfield, Tyler Tennant, and Alex King, who each chipped in one.

Evansville was held below its usual level of production. Evansville puts an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game.

Gillette incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brian Forness rejected 15 shots on goal for Evansville. Evansville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
