Gillette Erases Deficit to Stun Missoula, 5-4

Dec 2, 2012

The Gillette Wild rallied from three goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Missoula Maulers.

Gillette never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Wild fell behind 4-1 after a goal by Missoula's Joey Sundgren at 8:45 in the second period. Gillette tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Matt Rose at 6:47 in the third period. The Wild netted the game winner at 10:00 in the third period on a goal by Tyler Cavan.

Gillette's Sean Kelley was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Kelley will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.7.

The Wild stifled the Maulers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Gillette was helped by Alex King, who tallied two goals and one assist. King scored the first of his two goals at 13:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Missoula. Rose provided the assist. King's next tally made the score 4-2 Missoula with 15:30 left in the third period. Taylor Motsinger assisted on the tally. Gillette also got points from Rose, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tyler Cavan, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Gillette also got a goal from Ronnie Wilshusen as well.
