Alex King finished with one point to lead the Gillette Wild to a 2-1 victory over the Billings Bulls.
Gillette stifled Billings\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulls were unable to stop the Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Gillette eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.
Gillette also got a goal from Will Fobair as well.
Billings was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Bulls surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Billings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.
The Bulls were led by Matt Myers, who scored the team\’s only goal. Myers scored 15:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sam Orth picked up the assist.
The Wild\’s Sean Kelley stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Gillette ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Daniel Oordt made 33 saves for Billings on 35 shots. The Bulls registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For Billings, Tristen Heinrichs was ejected from the game.
