The Wild hosted a doubleheader weekend on January 30 and 31, welcoming the Butte Irish and the Bozeman IceDogs to Spirit Hall. The team wore special jerseys honoring first responders and recognized Wild billet families on Friday night, along with parents and families throughout the weekend.
Gillette opened the weekend with an exciting 6–2 victory over Butte on Friday night. It was a memorable evening for forward Riley Schmidt, who reached 100 career junior points while recording a hat trick and adding two assists. Between periods, billet families were recognized on the ice and presented with flowers from the players.
On Saturday night, the Wild were unable to replicate Friday’s success, falling 6–2 to Bozeman. The IceDogs have been a back-and-forth opponent for Gillette throughout the season, and the matchup continued that trend. Despite the loss, it was great to see so many parents and families travel to Gillette in support of the team during Parents Weekend.
