Huge game by Babineau boosts Helena over Gillette, 6-2

Behind a great game by Blake Babineau, who had two goals and one assist, Helena defeated Gillette, 6-2.

Babineau\’s tallies came at 59 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Helena and on the power play 10:34 into the third to make the score 5-2 Helena.

Helena\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Gillette power plays. Helena surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Helena averages 3.3 goals per game.

Others who scored for Helena included Ryan Daugherty, Jay Forbes, Riley Keays, and Gavin Lubin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Bryan Knesel, who had three, Michael Ballard and John Greer, who contributed one each, and Johnny Bonta and Brandon Mills, who each chipped in two.

Gillette kept Helena\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Ranck made 35 saves on 37 shots. Penalties took their toll on Gillette, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Gillette was helped by Cade Boreing, who grabbed one goal. Boreing scored 13:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gillette. Hunter Johnson assisted on the tally. Nick Scherbinin also scored for Gillette. In addition, Gillette received assists from Tyler Reble and Mitchell McEwan, who contributed one each.

Helena incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alex Feese rejected 22 shots on goal for Gillette. Gillette incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
