Wild win Wyoming Showdown at The Pepsi Center

On Saturday, November 26, the Gillette Wild traveled to Denver, Colorado to face-off against in-state rivals the Yellowstone Quake in the "Battle of Wyoming." Prior to face-off both teams watched the home town Colorado Avalanche defeat the upstart Edmonton Oilers. At the conclusion of the NHL contest, both teams took the ice an provided an entertaining game for the 400 plus spectators who remained for the contest. Gillette jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Casey Moneer and Colorado native, Tyler Cavan. The second period saw the Quake take over the game by scoring four unanswered goals. "We didn't compete very hard in the second period and they took advantage of it," stated Wild Head Coach, Tom Winkler. After the intermission, the Wild came out and stormed the Quake with four unanswered goals of their own. Adam Pecht, Trent Dillinger, Jason Forney, and Eddie Smirnov scored goals that secured the 6-4 victory for the Wild.
