Gillette rips Yellowstone, 4-1

The Gillette Wild had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Yellowstone Quake.

Gillette was led by goalie Michael Kitts, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Kitts will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.28.

The Wild were led by Andrii Istominov, who registered one goal. Istominov scored 4:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gillette. Alex King picked up the assist.

Gillette forced Quake\’s netminders to work without much rest, ripping 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Sean Leahy made 13 stops and Rocco Yapello made 23. The Wild\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Yellowstone power plays.

Gillette also got points from Will Fobair, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and King, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Bryce Mitzal also scored for Gillette. More assists for Gillette came via Moco Willis, who had one and Trent Dillinger, who had two.

Yellowstone\’s offense rang up 36 shots on Gillette\’s net.

The Quake were led by Sawyer Scanlan, who scored the team\’s only goal. Scanlan scored short handed 9:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Gillette. Yellowstone found itself down a man on Tommy Toohey\’s cross checking. James Pyle provided the assist.

The Wild totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Quake ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
