Gillette Looses Close one to Helena

Ben Henry registered one point to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 2-1 victory over the Gillette Wild.

 

Helena put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gillette to score on any of its four power plays. The Bighorns could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Helena puts an average of 7.1 pucks into the net per game. The Bighorns forced the Wild goalie Nick Vittori to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Christian Axelson also scored for Helena. More assists for Helena came via Ben Henne and John Petersson, who contributed one a piece.

Gillette stifled Helena's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wild did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Gillette averages 5.0 goals per game.

The Wild were led by Brandon Castleberry, who scored the team's only goal. Castleberry scored 3:02 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Moco Willis provided the assist.

The Bighorns' Jett Salinas stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Helena incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nick Vittori made 29 saves for Gillette on 31 shots. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
